Label — Nathea Spices

2026LabelPackagingFood

Context

Nathea is a Togolese spice blend brand, sold in glass jars with a black lid. The blend combines ginger, garlic, white and black pepper, cinnamon, rosemary, bay leaf, clove, turmeric, thyme and cumin. The brand needed a label that presents the product and makes people want to try it.

Problem

A spice blend is often chosen on a shelf, next to other jars. The label had to get three messages across in a few seconds: the brand name, what is in the jar, and that it is natural. It also had to fit on a narrow band wrapped around a round jar, where only the front can be seen at a glance.

Process

  1. 01

    Logo

The name “Nathea” in thick, rounded letters, in chocolate brown, topped with two green leaves: the color of spices and the idea of natural in a single mark.

  2. 02

    Layout

The name in the center, “Mélange d'épices” (spice blend) in handwritten script and the ingredient list just below. On each side, photographed spices (cinnamon, rosemary, ginger, garlic, turmeric, pepper) show the contents without a word.

  3. 03

    Markers

A “Made in Togo — 100% natural — Organic” badge at the top right, and a brown band at the bottom with the phone numbers, legible even from a distance.

  4. 04

    Mockups and printing

Renders of the jar, alone and as a set of three, to check legibility on a round surface, then a sheet of labels ready for the printer.

Process reconstructed after the fact, for illustrative purposes.

Solution

A warm, legible label: brown and cream for the spices, green for natural. The name stands out, the ingredients and spice photos say what is in the jar, and the bottom band gives the contact details to order.

Result

Deliverables: the jar label, its mockups (single jar, set of three jars) and the print-ready sheet.
